Yeah thanks, however I meant if I wanted to trace further back, Ancestry would be the only real possible option, a site I no longer can access due to my subscription cancelled because it cost an arm and a leg :P

Try using FreeBMD for Births, Marriages and Deaths - it's free!
www.freebmd.org

They also have sister sites - freecen (census) and freereg (Parish Registers), but coverage is far from complete.
Some counties are excellent; some very patchy :(

There's also familysearch.org - the site run by the LDS Church (Mormons) - very good! And free!! ;D

I have subscriptions to Ancestry, FindMyPast and GenesReunited.
I use FindMyPast most of all!

FindMyPast might suit you better - you can pay for credits (ideal if you only want a few searches), or but a 6 monthly or annual sub.

Try your local library - there is an Ancestry Library Edition which is free to use - if your library has it!

Better still, try using the other (free) websites, and see what you can find.

If stuck - ask!
Some of us a re a bit mental (well, me anyway! ;D) and enjoy the searching for answers!!

Great news, I just begged my older brother to allow me to use his card for the 14 day free trial, can I please have a link to the census you found on my Great Grandad as a 2 year old?
