Confession time. Do the Methodists do this? The one I thought was the Zion I had muddled with the Centenary Methodist Church on Thorold St. near the central park. Just looked on street view to confirm the date of build, but there is a massive tree obscuring half the frontage. Sure (  ??? ) the stone said 1830. Can anyone confirm please? This will be some of my answers have been stranger than usual, I was talking ab out the wrong place. Senility??
Roger,
Is this any help?
http://bostonpast.blogspot.com/search?q=centenary
It mentions the date the first chapel was opened; and also the year of the fire. (So, by default, the approximate date of the 'new' building.)
By really racking my brains, wasn't there another chapel-type building next to the Centenary? It is many years since I've been in that area of town, but the building I'm thinking of was where the red Mini is now parked.

It was build of brick, and was quite plain-looking.

Thanks, Geoff, for confirming that I wasn't having a senior moment.  :)

I'd already twigged from a previous reply that the Zion Chapel in West Street was where the Regal was built.

And although slightly off-topic, a couple of photos of the Regal (sadly past its prime)

That explains the word I was struggling to read on the 1968 map. :)

What? Cinema?
Though (again, getting wildly off-topic!) it was also a theatre. I have a feeling that the Scouts' Gang Shows were at the Regal. And I know that they used to have pop shows in the 60s, because that's where I screamed at Gene Pitney.  :-[
