Death search
« on: Saturday 17 September 11 08:39 BST (UK) »
Hello

I need help in finding the death or burial of James Edey who was born in 1824.

James is last seen in 1891 living in Lever Street, St Luke, London with his wife and children.

From my prior research when i had access to Ancestry.co.uk i found the following deaths which i don't think are my James Edey ?

4th Q 1899 Brentford : James Edey born abt 1827
There was a James Edey born about 1828 living in Brentford in the 1891 census. He does not appear to be on the 1901 census.

1st Q 1899 Islington : James Aedey age 78
Burial  : Saint Mary, Finchley
James Aedey
Age : 78
Abode : 195 Highbury Hill
James Aedy born about 1821 was living in censuses in Fincnley.

1st Q 1897 Camberwell : James Eddy aged 73
There was a James Eddy born about 1824 living in Walworth in the 1891 census. He does not appear to be on the 1901 census.

Thank you in advance

Have you managed to trace his wife Emma after 1891, either in a census or a death?

I notice that James was said to be deceased when son Arthur married in 1903, but not when son Charles married in 1899 (the latter of course does not necessarily mean he was alive).
Ayr: Barnes, Wylie
Caithness: MacGregor
Essex: Eldred (Pebmarsh)
Gloucs: Timbrell (Winchcomb)
Hants: Stares (Wickham)
Lincs: Maw, Jackson (Epworth, Belton)
London: Pierce
Suffolk: Markham (Framlingham)
Surrey: Gosling (Richmond)
Wilts: Matthews, Tarrant (Calne, Preshute)
Worcs: Milward (Redditch)
Yorks: Beaumont, Crook, Moore, Styring (Huddersfield); Middleton (Church Fenton); Exley, Gelder (High Hoyland); Barnes, Birchinall (Sheffield); Kenyon, Wood (Cumberworth/Denby Dale)

Hello avm228

Thanks for your help.

Interesting that James is not stated to be deceased on that 1899 marriage cert. I never noticed that info before.

I think wife Emma died 1st Q 1892 in Shoreditch district. Not certain though because her age is given as 50 and she was born in 1834.
