Census look up please - Daniel HORNE

Hi,

I am trying to trace Daniel HORNE on the 1841 to 1871 census's please.

He was born is about 1806 in Ireland but was in Hereford when his children were born as follows:

Jane Barbara 1851 in Ross district
Sarah Ann 1854 in Ross
(possibly Emily born 1858 in St Martin - Hereford)

He was married/partnered with an Alice (nee JONES)

He died in 1887 in Coningsby Hospital, Hereford which were almshouses for old/retired soldiers and he is listed at the birth of Sarah Ann as a Soldier and on the 1881 census as in the Red Coat Hospital as a Pensioner (Army)

I would like to find out whether the census records indicate his regiment etc so that we can find records of his military service,

Hi Wozzle,

That is great. Of particular interest is the reference to GRETTON step children as this suggests Alice was previously married. I have found a match for Horne/Gretton on FreeBMD  of a marriage which looks like it is possible in 1850 in Gloucester. One of the objects of the excercise being to trace Daniel's parents - hopefully the marriage cert might have his father listed.

Can you find the family in 1871 by any chance?

think there is a very good chance that the marriage in 1850 is them
you need that marr cert
