Birth/Marriage - Duns, Berwick

I'm trying to trace a date of birth for William Darry.  He would have been born c 1780 in Berwick.
He married Nelly Cockburn, who (according to IGI) was born in Duns, Berwick and their children were also born there.
Can anyone help me trace birth and marriage details for him please
Any help would be very much appreciated.

I have looked in the cemetery inscriptions at  Duns,Berwick and found no burials for the name DARRY,but entries for the name COCKBURN.Do you have the names of Nelly Cockburns parents or any bros or sis.?If so,I will look and see if I can find anything that might match for you.

Thanks for coming back to me.  The Darry family are proving to be quite elusive!!
I haven't been able to trace any brothers or sisters for Nelly Cockburn, but I believe her parents were Peter Cockburn and Nelly McNeil. Her Grandparents were George Cockburn and Isabel Home/Hume.  Unfortunately I haven't been able to find any dates of birth/marriage/death for any of them.

Hi KPM,  There are no McNeil's or Darry/Darrie in Duns Cemetery.
  William Hume,Heritor in Dunse died Aug 11 1797 age 72,his spouse Agnes Cairns died in 1784 

 John Cockburn,Baker at Duns died Jan 19 1872 age 67,his wife AliceBell died May 12 1894 age 88.

Lillias Aitchison spouse of John Cockburn,baker in Dunse died Jan 8 1772 25 yrs.Daugh Lillias Cockburn diedJuly3 1784 age 11.2nd wife MargaretDixon died Oct 13 1799 age 51.John Cockburn above died Oct 26 1834 age 89

Elizabeth Cockburn wife of William Redpath,shepherd in Brockholes died Jan 24 1805 age 46 yr7 of their children died young dau.Darling Redpath died Jan 26 1829 age 12 years.On back of that stone William Redpath died Jan 26 1855 age 85.

Relic of Walter Cossar, Isabella Cockburn died June 15 1861 age 77.

Thomas Hill died Oct 25 1848 age 43 his wife Janet Cockburn died Jan 21 1882 age 86 yr.

Thomas Cockburn died Mar 12 1829 age 55 and his spouse Ann Jaffrey died Nov 4 1821 age 50 yrs.

Adam Turnbull merchant and feurar in Dunse died Nov 8 1827 age 45 his spouse Margaret Cockburn died Oct 8 1827 age 37.

Isabella Cockburn died Feb 21 1863 age 74 yrs wife of James Lauder late feuar in Dunse died Nov 24 1851 age 65 yrs

Hope this helps somewhat.If there is any one family that is a positive match let me know and I can look and see if anything else is close by.

Hii saw your message and i am also researching the Darries from the border regions of Scotland,my mothers maiden name is Darrie.I dont know if you have this info but i will give it to you anyway.
These are births in Duns of William Darrie and Nellie Cockburns children.
Jane Darrie born 10th November 1799
Kathrine Darrie born 21st August 1806
Anne Darrie born 11th November 1809
Elizabeth Darrie born 16th September 1808
Helen Darrie born 31st July 1804
Isobel Darrie born 4th August 1812.
I have quite a bit of info regarding the Darries so if i can help in any way please let me know.
The Darries are very elusive,i am looking for Thomas Darrie born about 1780-90 and went on to marry Janet Kirkcaldy,i can find no trace of him or his marriage details but one day i will hit lucky.Anne.

This info is great.  I am related to Helen Darrie who married Thomas Paterson in 1825.
I'm afraid I have come to a complete standstill.  I have been unable to find out anything at all about William Darrie, except that he was a Gardener/Domestic Servant (from Helen's death entry).  If you could let me know what information you have, I would really appreciate it.
Also, have you followed the Cockburn line?  I think I have got my information wrong, as I thought I had found a dob for Nelly in 1788, but when I looked again I realised she would only have been 11 when Jane was born!!

KPM...can you put together a few dates with the names? I am going through  the monumental  inscriptions and am finding Cockburn,Darrie and Hume/Home in one place.Langton Old Burial Ground. Lots and lots of Cockburn's.
Will pull and send them.I type slow so you will get many postings.

Patrick Home,feuar and nailer in Dunse died Jan 25 1812 age 40,spouse Mary Darry died April10 1855 age 82.

By William Darrie...father Archbald Darrie died at Gavington Sep 20 1866 ,86 yrs. and his wife Margaret Purves died at Gavington July 24 1868 age 70

William Darry late gardener in Manderston died Feb 27 1817 age 55 dau Elizabeth died in childhood.
On back of stone : George Darry ,gardener died Apr 1 1787  60 years,his wife Helen Creswel died July 5 1803 age 90.

There is more and I need to pull them .Will work on this.
