Charles Kerslake b1879 Lyndhurst

I am trying locate more information for my relative Charles Kerslake born in Lynhurst Hants in 1879.
I believe his wife was Ellen Kerslake nee(??) but I cant locate his parents or the date of his marriage to Ellen.
I wonder if anybody can help on this as there was a suggestion the parents were romanies but I cant be sure of that, all I know is I cant locate his marriage or parents so your help on this would really be appreciated.

Having rechecked my grandmothers name and the 1911 census her parents show as Charles & Ellen Kerslake.
He was born in Lyndhurst and she was born in Salisbury.
They married around 1903, but it's clearly not the Charles Kerslake shown above.
I cant find any suggestion as to what my grandmothers, mothers maiden name was.
Again any help gratefully apprciated.

I can't find a marriage, but did he serve in the 1st. world war? Did he live in Dorset?

Have found this army record of a Charles Kerslake (bn about 1879) who when he signed up was a widower living at 3 Jubilee Terrace, Dorset(can't read town, too blurred) . His next of kin was an Ellen Dyer, of the same address. His children were

Lilian May 20 Jan. 1904       William Henry George 5 Nov 1905               Bertie Charles 1 Nov.1907
Frederick Sidney 20 Jun 1910       Ada Florence 28 Mar. 1913  and    Hilda Rita Dyer 2 Aug 1915

He was also 5ft 9in tall, tattooed chest and both arms.

could this be him?

The children were registered under the surname Dyer with the exeption of Lilian May who was a Kerslake.

Charles Kerslake married Maria Hayter in 1877 in Poole - to check if this is your Charles' parents, you should get the birth certificate.

Using the names that claire has given, William Henry, Bertie Charles  and Frederick S were all registered with the surname Dyer.  I don't think Charles and Ellen were married at all.

Thanks for the great info. I new to genealogy so struggling slightly. The first information is really useful as it does really help me understand more of my great grandfather.
The second item is about the great great grandfather who was also named Charles.
Now the question is (one more) where should I be looking to locate this information rather than bugging people here. The searching is really part of the challenge, but I'm sure I'm missing something.
I have a subscription on ancestry.com, but what else should I sign up to that will assist me?

All the info. that I have given you can be found on ancestry.co.uk, but familysearch.org is probably the biggest genealogical website going and it's free! Also FreeBMD and FreeREG and freeCEN, all good.
