Royal Irish Fusiliers
« on: Sunday 18 September 11 21:35 BST (UK) »
Hello

I am trying to trace an uncle (who could still be alive) who was in RIF around 1960.  Does any one know who I could contact regarding his time served with them?

Sam

Rootschat isn't a forum for tracing living people and the Royal Irish Regiment (their present name) will not give any information on living or recent members.

Other than asking your relatives about any details they may remember (letters, photographs, newspaper clippings, certificates, etc.) the only other source is probably to ask your uncle himself.
Away sorting out DNA matches... I may be gone for some time many years!

Thank you for your help, but I can't ask him as I am trying to trace him and the family has not heard from him since 1950.  I am not sure if he is dead or alive either.......

Thanks for the info anyway.

Hi, My Father, Grand Father and great Grand Father were officers in the Regiment. Have you tried this resource to trace your Uncle? The Army Personnel Centre Helpdesk (0845 600 9663) They have records back to 1920s for all regiments except the Foot Guards. Try them if you haven't already. I hope you have success.
