HELP PLEASE

I am researching George Augustus Bedford who was in the Royal Navy that was serveying west coast of Ireland.  He had several children born in Ireland.  Can anyone suggest to me where the family might have been based that would be near a Royal Navy port?

You don't say what years are the subject of your research. Do you know the name of his ship too?

I believe Queenstown was used by the RN as well as merchant shipping (now called Cobh).

Sorry about the dates.

He was on the Cyclops in 1844, the Crocodile in 1847 both surveying the West coast of Ireland.  They are two that I know of.

Could it be his son, as this was from the 1881 census? Bit of a coincidence, his being on the Crocodile too!

It could be.  His first marriage was in 1839 so, this person may line up.  I will hold on to the info with a possible confirmation match during my research.
