Looking for (Cort) Dunn Family - Rhodesia/Zambia
« on: Tuesday 20 September 11 08:42 BST (UK) »
Is there somewhere that I should look for information, that I haven't thought of so far? My ancestors were in Rhodesia back in the 1950's but because that has all changed now I am a little unsure where else to try.
My GF came to Mazabuka, Southern Zambia about 1924 (I believe) he had a son in 1925 who was christened in Cape Town (records in ancestry 24) then nothing. I know that he died about 1964 and I think was possibly buried in the Lusaka area. I am trying to find his marriage to Doreen Isabel and both their deaths. But Ancestry 24 had no more info, on either of their names. Technically Zambia is not S. Africa so I wondered if I should be looking in another place that I am not aware of at the moment. I have been on the Great Northern Road blog but nothing has come of it. Has anyone any suggestions as to where I should look?
Thanks

Hi if you read the main messages on the notice board Mancsman has a notice about Rhodesian/Zimbabwe death notices.

This is the link.Step 1: Open the FamilySearch website https://www.familysearch.org/

Select Africa and then Zimbabwe. You will then have to look through all the images to find your one hopefully.Good luck Derek.

I saw that but got somewhat daunted, If he died in the Lusaka/Kabwe area which district would that be?
I have googled it but it didn't come up with a name that was on the district list as far as I could see.
Regards
Harriet

Hi I tried looking up both Cort and Dunn surnames in the Zimbabwe archives on Family Search. No mention of iether so he must have died in Zambia.Regards Derek
