Was he a criminal
« on: Friday 23 September 11 16:03 BST (UK) »
Hello All,

I have Benjamin Emmett born 1840, Bowling Bradford on the 1841, 1851, 1861 and 1881 census.
He married an Emma Stevenson and in 1891 Emma is with her daughter Sarah, son in law Samuel and Grandson Edwin in Pudsey, Bradford.
In the 1891 census she appears as married, but there is no sign of Benjamin with them, and I am unable to locate him or a death for him.

However, I have found on the criminal registers for Dec 1885 North Yorkshire a Benjamin Emmett, sentenced for what looks like 15 'catr' months. (No idea what 'catr' means)
Another Benjamin Emmett then appears in the criminal registers for Feb 1887 in  West Yorkshire for Larceny, sentenced for 3 'catr' months.

I am unsure if this is my Benjamin, and also the time-scale between the two offences is only 14 months so I am unsure if this is the same man.

If anyone could point me in the direction of how to obtain more information, or help find Benjamin in 1891 I would greatly appreciate it.

Kind Regards

Colleen

Hi Stan,

I have already checked the migration records but am unable to find a Benjamin Emmett that matches his profile.

Many Thanks
