Catherine Jennings daughter of Ulick Jennings

Hello, looking for any information regarding Caterine Jennings, daughter of Ulick Jennings.

Catherine was born in IRE (~1850-55) and eventually married Thomas Harrison in Baddesley, Warwickshire, Eng. (married on 4 Jul 1870)  The marriage certificate lists her father as Ulick Jennings (deceased).

Catherine and husband moved to Connecticut in USA around 1871.

If anyone can help located some sort of record of Catherine/Ulick it would be greatly appreciated.

What sort of information are you hoping to find?

Civil registration of births started in 1864 so there will be no birth certificate for Catherine. Registration of deaths also began in 1864- if her father died 1864/1870 in Ireland you should be able to find him in the civil registration index. Have you checked to see if Ulick Jennings appears in any English records (death index, census, etc.)? Since Catherine seems to have been quite young when she married it's possible the entire family moved to England.

Connecticut records usually provide details on parents- have you found a death certificate for Catherine? may give her mother's name and a place of birth. Certificates for any children might also mentioned mother's birthplace (although possibly will just say 'Ireland').

Griffiths Valuation only has one Ulick Jennings listed for the whole of Ireland. In 1857, he had land in the townland of Ballycally, civil parish of Burriscarra, Co Mayo. He was renting a house and 2 acres of land (plot 15A on Griffiths which is on a dead end road on a peninsula that sticks into Lough Garra). There was still one Jennings widow living there in 1901.

You might want to research RC records for that parish to see if you can find further records that may match your family. This site details RC parish records and where they are held:

The Burriscarra parish records seem to start in 1839.

aghadowey - I am really looking for anything. 

The death record I have obtained in CT does not list any information regarding Catherine's parents, nor do any newspaper entries regarding her death.  I would like to know her mothers name.  I have obtained loads of information from my USA/England relatives, but once I get back to an Irish ancestor, I cannot seem to locate any information.

this may be nothing to do with your Catherine  but it is interesting re the name and the right time frame:
Marriage Liverpool (not near Warwickshire) 1869
Jemima Harriet Jennings - father Ulick Jennings Revenue Officer. (spouse William Henry Magennes)
It doesn't say father is deceased but that is not always specified.

In later censuses - as Harriet with variations of surnames she states place of birth as Ireland and Liverpool. She also changes her year of birth - marriage 23 yrs - born 1846 to 1910 in NY  - 53 yrs.
She emigrates to USA mid 1900s with adult children.

I have really only posted because of the name Ulick Jennings.

Records also show a death of Ulick Jennings 68 yrs in 1885 at Swineford, Mayo and other ones- not right time period etc. so perhaps no excitement yet.

Some more information I have obtained from the states:

Catherine Jennings was the daughter of Ulick Jennings and Sebina Moran.  Still don't know the county, although record from CT stated that Ms. Moran was also born in Ireland.

Sebina Moran's father was Richard Moran.

As always, any help is greatly appreciated.

May be a complete red herring but 1880 U.S. census has a Sabrina Jennings (age 78, widowed, born Ireland) with son Richard Jennings (age 25, parents born Ireland) living in New Jersey.

Forgot to add as well, Catherine had a sibling named Edward Jennings, d.1923 Derby CT.
