INNOCENT family
« on: Saturday 24 September 11 18:30 BST (UK) »
I am researching the Innocent family in Warwickshire and am stuck on John b in 1667 he married Sarah Chaplyn in 1697. These are my 9 x great grandparents. I have exhausted all possible ways of getting further back so I know its may be impossible ask they may have lived in the following areas Mancetter, Weddinton or Witherley. Thank you in advance all information is much appreciated.

Also anyone researching this family plz let me know and I can let you have what i know

I will certainly have a look in the registers from those places, well Mancetter and Weddington, but it will not be until tomorrow.

The IGI says married in Weddington, how they got that I do not know as the registers for that parish are shot in those years although a note does say they were under repair at Warwick RO, I certainly could not read anything on the film in Nuneaton library which was disappointing as I had high hopes that it would tell you which parish he came from.
The date of 4th April fits in with their first child some nine months later, John Innocent baptised 23 December 1697 at Mancetter to John and Sarah. Mancetter was the main Parish Church in those days with Atherstone just a chapel, not sure if Witherley also came under it but next two children at least were baptised at Witherley, John in 1699 and Thomas in 1702, all three parishes are next to each other, the names may provide a clue to John's father, John or Thomas.
I had a quick look for your John's baptism in the 1660s/70s but only quickly and did not find anything, I will look again as time permits.

Forgot to add that Witherley is not in our library, it will be in Leicestershire although Atherstone Library may have a copy of the registers .

Have just found some transcripts of Weddington at
http://www.uk-genealogy.org.uk/cgi-bin/browse.cgi?action=ViewRec&DB=12&bookID=148&page=6&submit=Next

At their wedding there in 1697 the couple must both have been living in the parish as it would have stated if not
