From A History of the County of Wiltshire:
A garden was certified for worship by 'Tent' Methodists, probably early Primitive Methodists, in 1823. A Primitive Methodist chapel was built in 1826; it lay on the south side of Fisherton Street, well back from the road, and was certified for worship in 1835. There were 500 sittings in 1851 and a settled minister, but the congregation was about the same size as that which frequented the Wesleyan chapel. By 1957 the building had become the Fisherton Conservative Club. In 1869 a new chapel, seating 340 in 1880, was erected on the north side of Fisherton Street, where it is joined by Chapel Place. In 1917 a third church, seating 450, was built in Dew's Road, and by 1923 or thereabouts its predecessor had been converted into a cinema. In 1958 the Wilton Road and Dew's Road churches had memberships of 107 and 89 respectively, and shared a minister.
