Hi Stephen,

Re Consent ...  It was not just a Church requirement, but it was also a civil law requirement that the name of the person giving consent to the marriage of a minor was recorded.  It was the clergyman's responsibility to ensure that consent was obtained before he could proceed with the marriage....   A minor was any person not yet 21 years of age.  This was lowered to not yet 18 years of age as recently as the 1970's.

At the linked thread  at reply #12  http://www.rootschat.com/forum/index.php/topic,557757.10.html  I have uploaded part of a NSW BDM certificate that has NOT been reconciled, and it shows the area where the consent should be recorded....  On the certificate you have at hand, it should be in the same large empty space, after the words Married in the COWRA       It should be fully detailed in the local parish register held by the Cowra Presbyterian Church.   As the Presbyterians amalgamated with the Methodists, it is possible that the register has been archived.  If that is so, then perhaps it is in the Uniting Church archives on Pennant Hills Road, North Parramatta in the former Burnside Homes offices.   I do not live in Sydney, so I am unable to offer to go and physically check for you.  However, I am sure that Mr Google's search engines will find the various links for you to follow up.

http://cfhg.webs.com/  This link is for the Cowra Family History Group, and perhaps they may have already transcribed the local records, and can thus give you all the "blanks" information for that mc.   They would be a volunteer group, so you may need to be patient and wait for their members to find the spare moments to help you further.   Please consider providing them with all the information on the mc, including the NSW BDM references.

Cheers,  JM

Apologies for this long post

Hi there,

Now that I understand that Mary born 1902 was not registered in the Dubbo district, but was registered in the Cowra district, and that Sophia BORN 1904 was also not registered in the Dubbo district but was registered in the Forbes district, I have edited my earlier post #10.  Here are the Electoral Roll entries for ANDERSON from the NSW 1903 Electoral Roll, hardcopies of which are in my offline resources.  The 1903 roll is the first NSW roll to include females.   Alas, I still have not found James (Mason) Anderson nor Sophia Anderson (his wife).   It was not compulsory to enrol.

NSW ER 1903 CANOBOLAS, polling at Forbes  .... All for the surname ANDERSON  (I have not looked at rural polling places nearby to Forbes)

Alexander, farmer , Pine Vale
Alexander Mackey, carrier , Forbes
Alice, milliner, Sheriff-street, Bald Hills
Jane, domestic duties, Sheriff-street
Louisa, domestic duties, Pine Vale
Mary Jane, domestic duties, Sheriff-street

NSW ER 1903 MACQUARIE, polling at Cowra .... All for the surname ANDERSON  (I have not looked at rural polling places nearby to Cowra)
Alexander, senior, carrier, West Cowra
Edward, farmer, Milton
Elizabeth, domestic duties, Cowra
Elizabeth, domestic duties, West Cowra
Emanuel, farmer, Milton
Emanuel Sydney, farmer, Milton
John, labourer, Glen Logan
John, farmer, Milton
Sarah, domestic duties, Wallaroos
Susan, domestic duties, Wallaroos

I NOTE HOWEVER, that there is a glimmer of hope ...  On the Cowra roll for 1903 there is a Henry Mason MAKER, a labourer.  I note this simply because it MAY be (and of course may NOT be) that the surname of the witnesses for the 1891 marriage of James Anderson and Sophy Tindell, is MAKER.  This may be where the “Mason” as a likely middle name for James ANDERSON is connected.

NSW ER 1903 MACQUARIE, polling at Cowra ALL for the surname MAKER
Charlotte, domestic duties, Cowra;    Mary, domestic duties, Cowra;    Sarah, dressmaker, Cowra;   Amy, domestic duties, Cowra;    Annie, domestic duties, Cowra;    George, labourer, Cowra;    Henry Mason, labourer, Cowra;   Richard, cook, Cowra;   Richard, junior, labourer, North Logan;    ....

Cheers,  JM

Hi Stephen,

Re the MAKER surname .... please have a look at the online index for NSW BDM births ....  particularly for the surname MAKER at both COWRA and CARCOAR ....

and one in particular is jumping out at me .... what do you think of this one?  .... remembering Sophia's maiden name of Tindell/Tindle/Tindall ...

Registered at Cowra in 1881, Sarah A MAKER, daughter of Richard and Charlotte Tindle    .... Ref # 13244

or this one registered at Cowra, in 1874 .... Henry Mason MAKER, son of Richard and Charlotte ... Ref # 9965

I note there's a death registered in 1909 at Cowra for a Charlotte MAKER, parents given names George and Sarah Ref #5156

Sophia Tindall's parents are George Tindall & Sarah Player, Sarah was a child of Thomas Player & Elizabeth Ann Rope, Elizabeth being a child of Anthony Rope & Elizabeth Pulley who were both convicts transported from UK to Botany Bay in 1788.

Cheers,  JM

Sophia Tindall's parents are George Tindall & Sarah Player, Sarah was a child of Thomas Player & Elizabeth Ann Rope, Elizabeth being a child of Anthony Rope & Elizabeth Pulley who were both convicts transported from UK to Botany Bay in 1788.

I guess it's very unlikely that any of the above named people are alive, however if any of their descendants find my posting here and would like to swap family tree information please contact me.

I specifically need help on finding out who Frank George Anderson/Rushby was married to and who the other remaining siblings of Frank were married to, and if they had any children or if grandchildren were born?

Regards,

Stephen

Greetings to all,

I am searching for descendants of Horace Edward Rush/Rushby who died in 1943 at Temora NSW & his wife Ellen ‘Ella’ Anderson she was born around 1909 in Forbes, NSW they were married about 1925 around Temora NSW.  We think Horace’s parents may have been named George & Eliza Rushby, Ellen's parents were James Mason Anderson and Sophia Tindall.

We think Horace & Ellen 'Ella' Rushby may have had the following children.

1. Margaret Sophia Rushby married 1943 at Temora to Walter Jordan, she died unknown date
2. Thelma Grace Rushby married 1946 at Temora to Ernest Richards, she died 16th Jan 2010 Temora NSW
3. James Rushby
4. Frank George Rushby, born Cobar NSW sometime 14th Feb 1938, now deceased.. surviving partner Edyth.
5. Eric Rushby

Frank George Anderson/Rushby was married and it was said he had 9 children, one of whom we think was named Julie

We need some help please to find out who Frank was married to and who the other remaining children listed above were married to, and if they had any children or if grandchildren were born?
