Property records for Dumfriesshire
« on: Sunday 02 October 11 12:36 BST (UK) »
Hello,

Hopefully someone could point me in the right direction, where could I find details of who owned or lived in a farm around 1790-1815

I am particularly interested in Yetts farm which was a couple of miles south of Middlebie and about the same distance to the east of Ecclefechan.

Would I have to visit Dumfries or Edinburgh record offices or is their a source online

thanks

thanks for this info, its the first official record I have seen that documents a George Kennedy living at Yetts

Does anyone know if Yetts farm still exists ?

I assume it was the Kennedy family you were looking for based on your last post. I am pretty certain my family line, Halliday occupied that farm at some point. I would need to check my records though.

I posted a similar thread on the main Scotland board. I'm after information on a couple of farms; Newfieldbank and Alton/ Oldtown both in Moffat. I know my family line lived at them both i was trying to find out when they left/ moved in and details of the properties.

Other than the Sassines and valuation rolls i'm struggling as neither are online and i won't be making it to Scotland any time soon.
Halliday
Matthews
Holmes
Kettle
Miles
Pither
