Anyone with knowledge of Temperance hotels in Liverpool?
« on: Tuesday 04 October 11 13:45 BST (UK) »
Hi

My husbands ancestors Richard Matthew Narracott and his wife Zillah ran a temperance hotel in Lime street in Liverpool from around 1871 to his death in 1889.

Does anybody know anything about this hotel, what it looked like, if the building is still there, even about the Narracotts themselves or if there are any websites we can visit.
Any help much appreciated.

The Liverpool Mercury, Aug 9, 1871 ran the following advert

"Wanted, a steady, active Young Woman as General Servant - apply at Narracott's Temperance Hotel, 48, Lime Street"

Many thanks hanes teulu.
That helps with putting together a timeline of the Narracotts occupancy of the hotel.

Re the timeline the earliest reference I can find is the Liverpool Mercury Feb 25, 1871 "Narracott's Hotel, Lime st"

The latest is the Liverpool Mercury, Dec 19, 1894 "Births - Dec 18, at 48 Lime Street, the wife of M H Narracott, of twins - son and daughter"
