Marriage Thomas Burden and Hannah
« on: Wednesday 05 October 11 17:34 BST (UK) »
I'm trying to find the marriage of Thomas Burden and Hannah (unknown), probably in north Oxfordshire, but not in Hornton where they were living in the censuses from 1841.
From the censuses there are 7 children associated with the couple, but the registers of Hornton only show 4 baptisms. The children were born over a 19 year period from 1834 to 1853, so the marriage may have been about 1833, but there is a possibility that Thomas was married before in 1832 to Elizabeth Hicks and that he married Hannah  around 1840.  ( The 3 children born after 1840 have Hannah as mother in the registers.)

Hi Eric ...

From the OFHS's Oxfordshire Marriage Index (1538-1837):

11 FEB 1833 - Thomas BURDEN to Elizabeth HICKS at Hornton

I can't see any subsequent marriage for him on the index - the only Thomas BURDEN marrying a Hannah is back in 1795.

I have also checked the Northamptonshire MI (1700-1837), but nothing there either.

Also, I can't see any obvious marriage for Thomas and Hannah on the GRO indexes.

Thanks for the replies, Pennie and Steve. I'll keep searching!!!!!
The Hornton area is so close to Warwickshire, Northamptonshire and Gloucestershire, the marriages could have been anywhere.
