This might be the correct family in 1901 census- based on townland, Mary's age and name of her father but James' wife listed as Honoria not Mary:

Thanks for the info, however, don't think thats the right family.  Found birth/baptism record for Mary Doyle, born to James Doyle & Mary Gillespie in Kilmoremoy district May 02, 1885. Is there any more info to that birth record.

You don't seem sure if it was a birth or a baptismal record that you found  :-\

See here for details on Irish birth certificates-
http://www.rootschat.com/forum/index.php/topic,433041.0.html

The census record could be the correct one if Mary's mother died and James remarried- notice gap between Mary's age (15) and next child listed (7).

Added- also note Honoria's age- she's 30 and eldest child is 18!

Thanks for the info.  The record was Mary's civil birth record.  However, you have offered some great advice for me to explore.

Have you found details of Mary's arrival in U.S. yet? passenger list might give important clues.

Tried to find that family in 1911 census/ Thought this was Thomas but sister Anne older here and mother's name and age don't match-

Haven't had any luck finding the rest of the family either- wonder if they all left Ireland?

Mary came over on ship named Celtic.  Arrived in New York 13 June 1910.  Departed Queenstown(Cobh)  Manifest says she is 21, servant, Foxford, Sraheen,Foxford, County Mayo, father James, destination Baltimore, Maryland.  Her daughter said she had a sister who stayed in Ireland.  Didn't know her first name, but that her married last name was Shaunessy.  No other immediate family came over.  Mary died in Baltimore in 1934 from cancer. Unfortunately, all her family here has also passed on.  Her mother's maiden name was Gilespie.

If I am reading it correctly, the manifest says that she was going to her cousin Mrs Maxwell. (no help there though).

That was the only census entry for 1911 that I could find last evening also with the brother Thomas but mother is now Annie.  :(

There are two Mary Doyles on the Celtic.  Believe my grandmother is on page 0535, line 17.  Info closer to some of my searches.
