There are 4 trees on Ancestry, but they are not his direct line, because they just have BMD.

one tree has Norman, but has him as Eldreds brothers son!!! though this tree has the two GB marriages, but no more.

looks like they know less than yourself.

Hi Everybody

Eldred Ernest Rounsevell was my 1st cousin 3x removed. His grandfather John Stephens(1821-1909) was my 3x great grandfather.

How do we know Norman Roy Rounsevell was his son could have been his nephew? Did Eldred the elder actually have children? If so who with, Emma Mary Pimley would have been too old.  As you mention one Norman was b. 1918 to his elder brother Christopher. Or can we say both brothers had 2 sons the same year with the same 1st name in 2 different countries? I have been in contact with his granddaughter Amelia in the past.  Norman had an elder brother called Eldred (1916-2003). This Norman also had an elder sister Marion b. 1906. In 1921 A Miss M E (could have been misinterpreted C?) Rounsevell left Southampton for South Africa & she was also b. 1906. But there is a Maideserla C Rounsevell b. 1905??????

So what about the Dorothea Bennet (c1884-1948) marriage in 1928?

I'm confused!!!!!

Time for my bed!

E.

PS. I do have a Rounsevell wedding photo 1928 of Eldreds niece Myrrah's marriage to Jack Jolly. Includes my grandmother age 9 & her parents & quite a few Rounsevells!

Hi E,

There is no listing of a birth in GB for Norman R,  or  was he mistranscribed?? I cant see it??

But you are right about maybe he was a relative, not a son

This is very interesting

Hi MM

Yes its misspelt/transcribed on the original BMD entry - Rounsevell comes out as Rounswell.

Rounswell    Norman R    Searle    Liskeard    5c   69 -  June 1/4.

Christopher James Rounsevell & Mabel Jeffery Searle married 21.10.1903.

If Norman 'Rounsevell' Armstrong was not the son, how were they related, was it on father or mothers side, was Charles her maiden name or married name, how old was Grace in 1916? The GR entry is certainly interesting - a whole big new can of worms though!

Hope the market was good? No stayed up & learning my lines for our village amateur show later in Oct.

This can of worms is a very good distraction! Just wish from the GR entry we had more substantial info ie DOB's etc
