England to Tasmania: ann caswell cadle
« on: Friday 07 October 11 14:34 BST (UK) »
hi all,
trying to find out about the above rellie ( nee whittington). her husband died in 1878 and she then " disappears" until i find her in Tasmania in 1914, living with her daughter, Minnie. i have located all her children, a few of which flitted back and forth between here and Tasmania, as, up until now, most of her children moved there quite a few years later on ( ancestry's free electoral rolls prove some went there earlier. and came  back) some of her children show as being in in wanstead infant orphan asylum in 1881, i thought that maybe she had " done a runner" after her husband died. obviously not the case as she is with them in the 1900's. i think she must have gone there in about 1879/80, can anyone help me find her movements around that time?
regards
Steve

I think possibly she arrived in Tasmania with some of her girls in 1885:
http://trove.nla.gov.au/ndp/del/article/38309064?searchTerm=Cadle
 - has an arrival from London in 1885, on the Elderslie, Mrs Cadle and Misses Cadle (3)
http://trove.nla.gov.au/ndp/del/article/3004954?searchTerm=Elderslie%20Cadle
 - a better list, has "Annie Cadle", with Elsie, Dora and Annie.

Hi, I live in the US.  My grandfather was Wilbert Whittington Cadle, son of Annie (Caswell Whittington) and William Cadle.  I don't have much on Minnie Cadle, except for stay at the "Royal Asylum of St Annes Society" Streatham Hill in 1881 and a reference on the New York passenger list when she was 17.  I do have info about my grandfather, his wives, and the children of his second marriage.  If anyone is interested.  I would also like to know more about Annie and her parents and her siblings.  BTW, my sister has a very very strong likeness of Annie Cadle (daughter of Annie and William)...it's scary.

Margi
