Norway: Direct link to emigration databases
« on: Friday 07 October 11 19:33 BST (UK) »

As there seems to be quite  lot of interest in Norwegian Genelogy in New Zealand, I have copied this link pointing directly to the emigration databases in digitalarkivet:

http://www.digitalarkivet.no/cgi-win/WebMeta.exe?slag=vismeny&fylkenr=&knr=&aar=&dagens=&katnr=5&alle=true

Tried one of them, and it returns some 900 people with destination "New Zealand"

Hmmm.

I tried to make the link point to the English edition of this, but it obviously didn't work!

I reckon Rootschatters will handle it anyway!

Scroll down to the bottom of the page, there is a button for english there.

(this goes against the "usual" rules for web-site design, where other languages are usually offered at the top of the page)

Thanks Bob!

It looks like this link takes us to the English frontpage though...

I have also noticed that there are quite a few Swedish people in these databases as well...

Thanks for the link - I'm still trying to wade through it.
I seem to be going in circles -  just when i think I've found something interesting - I'm taken back to the start ???
But I have to admit that it is the closest I've come to my elusive Gt Grandfather yet,  so I'll just keep on trying.  ;D

Hi!

Genealogy seems to be almost "folk sport" down under...!

If you provide the basics you've got we could try your ancestor as a
"case study" on the board...?

(no guarantee though)
