I have an Elizabeth Valance in my tree who was born Maidstone 1804 or 1806 or 1810 depending on which census report you believe! (1804 on her death cert).
She married John Hastings on 8 Jun 1830 at All Saints Maidstone but lived in Leicester and then in Nottingham.
I've had no luck tracing her parents. She'd had a daughter Sarah abt 1826 in Leicester, so it is possible that she was widowed and Valance was her married name - but Sarah took on the surname Hastings.
I'd be grateful if anyone who has access to the records could check out her birth and/or marriage for me and perhaps her parents are named?
