Hi folks.

Could anyone find a baptism for Abel Swannell c1772 - Banbury.  I cannot find any likely parents in the OxFHS - Marriage index.

Died 1858, Cuddington, and buried in Chearsley, Bucks.

Married Mary Gibbard - 1796 - Chearsley, Bucks.

Had a look at the PR's for baptisms - Banbury in library and could find no mention of Swannell at all around this time. Tried looking for marriages but also drew a blank. How sure are you he was born in Banbury?

Hi Lottee, and thank you for looking.

The only info regarding his p.o.b is from 1851 census.  He and his wife are in Alms Housing in Chearsley at the time, and his y.o.b is given as 1774.  Although in 1841 census, he is born in county, that is, Buckinghamshire.

The Swannells, as far as I can tell, dodged about between Dinton, Ford, Chearsley, Little & Great Kimble, but they're all in Bucks.  Also one or two in Monks & Princes Risborough, again in Bucks.

Yes I checked the census and see what you mean, not very helpful. I will have another go next time I'm there, different approach and see what comes up

Abel certainly knew how to lie low on 1841 census born 1776
Abel is 65 years -Agr Labourer
 MARY is  65years
  Sarah  daughter  25yrs
2 Lodgers Stephen and  Elizabeth Read
      both 25yrs he`s Agr labourer
 1851 Census birthdate now 1774 both  in almshouse

    he`s 77 yrs  and Marys 79 years
   
   Abel`s
      Death July 1858  Aylesbury Bucks
 Who is Abel swannell married Aylesbury Oct Nov Dec 1859 ?

Yes I have all those details, and more, as previously mentioned.

The marriage for 25th Dec. 1859 Chearsley,(Aylesbury district), was his grandson Abel Swannell, to Sarah Ray, daughter of Charles & Mary Ray.
