Andrew Reid
« on: Tuesday 11 October 11 13:34 BST (UK) »
I attach two photographs of two separate policemen.  I am sure they are not of the same person.  The mature one, without the helmet, I believe is Andrew Reid, born 1868, Strachan, Kincardineshire, and who went to work in London as a policeman.  This particular photograph is taken by a photographer "Cruickshank" of Kemnay, Aberdeenshire, so not quite sure what he was doing there when he lived and died in the London area. Andrew is in the group photo standing at the back on the right hand side, so I am sure this is the same man.
The second photo of a younger policeman is a mystery to the family.
They both have their numbers on their collars.

So...what would you like done, Jessie?

The group photo can be dated to about 1905-1910 or so.

Cheers,

Thank you for getting back to me.  I had thought it was taken about 1911 when the group photo had been taken because it is the children of a couple who married in 1861 and perhaps celebrating their marriage.  The female on the right hand side is holding a photo which may be of the parents.
Thank you for that.

It is the two policemen I was querying.  The mature man is Andrew Reid born 1868, Kincardineshire, but by 1900 he had moved to London as a policeman and retired about 1919.

The photograph of him, with his number on his collar, was taken by a photographer in Kemnay, Aberdeenshire, not sure when it was taken, so I am not sure why he was there because, as far as I am aware, he was always a policeman in London.

The other photograph is of a younger policeman, but the family do not know who it is.  There is only a number on his collar and his helmet, but the badge is unclear.

I thought I had attached the photo of the younger PC but here goes again.  I am a novice on this site, so forgive me.

I would like to know a date of the photo and what constabulary he served in.
