Finding Streets and photos
« on: Wednesday 12 October 11 23:08 BST (UK) »
Hi

Would anyone know where here are photo's of Lower Seedley Road Salford?  Also, does it strill exist and in the same form as early 2oC?

I looked online and just found the WW1 military hospital.

Also Derby Road especially the shops about 1922.

Thank you for reading.

Best wishes

Hi Emms

Don't know about the photos-Salford Local History might have some.

Last time I was down there-the other year-the road itself is still there. The stretch from Langworthy Rd to the park is pretty much untouched. The other stretch has been flattened and some new houses built about 15 years ago. The school on the corner has gone and some new community centre or the likes of has been built.

The shops on Derby Rd have all gone . There was a corner shop on the corner of Bridson St., I think, again a couple of years ago.

Hi,

This seems to be the place to ask!

Worth a try!!

I love looking at old pics, shame the library doesn't have a images site like Manchester.

Good Luck!

Hi all

Thank you for all the ideas.

Should have thought of street view.  Last time I looked at this it wasn't there!  When I put some more time on my dongle I'll have a good look, thank you, Ruskie.

Thank you for the information on what's left, together with the map.  I got a lot of things clearer in my head.  Apparently they were living in Lower Seedley Road and the business a fruiterer's was in Derby Road.  OI couldn't tell which houses were new on the satelite but I'm guessing most none terraced ones were which concurs with what Eric said.

I will get in touch with Salford Local History Library, Cancan.

Sylvia I'd seen that site before, in connection with some local history, but I lost the link on an old favourites list and forgot about it.

Thank you, I will enjoy a play on there.

Thank you again all.

Best wishes

Hi Ken

Thank you.

I'll be haviing a good play on there!

I love the overview function .  They must have read my mind!

Except at thye moment the scaling bar has landed on top of the up and down arrow so I can't move it, but i'm sure it'll soon sort.

Thank you again!
