Sudbury baptism 1731 look up
« on: Thursday 13 October 11 06:51 BST (UK) »
Greetings, I am looking for information on the baptism of James Meers, baptised at Subbury 31 Oct 1731.  Furthermore, curious to know if any other Meers children born at Sudbury between 1725-1735.

Thank you.
Ian

Ian

I think you may be muddled.  This baptism relates to Stoke by Clare and not Sudbury.

Stoke by Clare
31 Oct 1731
James MEERS son of Richd & Hanh

I'm afaid that this is all the information there is.  Early baptismal records contain very little information. Until 1813 when pre-printed registers came into use you were very much at the mercy of the officiating clergy.  Some gave more information than others.

Other children of Richard and Hannah at Stoke by Clare.

8 May 1726 - Daniel
5 April 1728 - William
25 Dec 1729 - Rebecca
31 Oct 1731 - James
10 Oct 1733 - John
1 June 1735 - Isaac
25 Feb 1737 - Elizabeth
20 Aug 1738 - Richard
24 Feb 1740 - Isaac

No additional information other than parents names.

Rick :)

Thanx for the game-changing info, Rick.  Hmm, my source for the 1731 Sudbury birth was from FamilySearch.org.

A further look-up for any information on James Meers' parents Richard and Hannah (Edwards or Sutherman?) would be greatly appreciated.

cheers,
Ian

Odd isn't it?  I looked at the familysearch entry and it is an extracted record though there was no search call data.

Anyway, I'm afraid that I can't help with the marriage but this may be Richard's baptism.

Stoke by Clare
26 Oct 1712
Richard MEERS son of Richard & Hannah

History seems to be repeating itself! ;D
