Rev William John AISLABIE - Richmond TAS **COMPLETED**
« on: Thursday 13 October 11 14:12 BST (UK) »
Hi there,

Planning on visiting Tasmania soon & have found my ancestor William J Aislabie was a Reverend @ the St Lukes Church in Richmond.

There's a bit written about him on the net, looking for any general information about his time in Tassie & possible resources I could find while i'm there...

I believe he returned to England where he died.

Are there any photos of him anywhere?

Cheers

Enjoyed the trip to Tas and in particular Richmond... We visited St Lukes Anglican Church and found Aislabie's name on the top of the 'Roll call' of Reverends for the church. He was head of the Church from 1835 for about 10yrs

Also found an old shipping box (i think) that had "WJ Aislabie - 1835 Van Diemens Land" painted on it, next to the organ. Whether it is original or not I don't know but it was lovely to find it there! :)
