 Many thanks to the helpful chatterers who answered my query of 6th October. I now have all his military history, copy of his citation for the Military Cross , and a picture of his grave in France.

A strange situation today. I was visiting an elderly Aunt with all the information when my cousin came in and went to a box of old photographs and guess what? Second from the top was a picture of David Robert Stephen. My cousin had been through them often and wondered who the chap was, my Aunt could not remember. The picture matches exactly his description on his enlistment documents.

Life is really strange sometimes but my cousin now understands the significance of a picture he has looked at often.
