Hi

Can anyone give me any advice regarding finding children of a marriage.

I am researching Jordan's originally from Carlton Scroop who moved to Ilkeston Derbyshire
Joseph Jordan (carlton scroop) & Hannah Johnson (north collingham) married 16 May 1864 South Collingham Parish Church.
I have the 1871/1881/1891 census sheets but I am struggling with the births of the children.
Some of the children I have found no problem but i am unable to find Elizabeth 6/John 4/
Sarah Ann 1 1/4 born long collingham according to 1871 census
Rose 10 months born Ilkeston according to 1881 census
Reuben & James are listed on the 1881 census but I am also unable to trace them under the name of Jordan but think i have found them registered as Johnson
Charlotte 12 born Eckington Fen according to 1881 census.

Is there a specific way that I can search for children from a marriage or is it just trial and error.

I would value any help and advice anyone can offer.

You mean you've found children on the census, but not in the birth registers or baptism registers?

What year were Reuben and James born on census

Ilkeston is in Basford Reg District - so here is a better birth!

...so Reuben and JAmes would have been born before the 1864 marriage, and could well be Hannah/Ann's from a previous marriage or relationship, and thus registered as Johnson

Yes, I've found them on the census but I am unable to find on births or baptisms.

Reuben 1881 census age 22/1871 census age 12
James 1881 census age 19/1871 census age 10

I think i've found them registered as Johnson in Newark reg district
James 1863 march 1/4
Reuben 1860 march 1/4
