I am looking for Minnie Port Donaldson, who appears on the 1901 census in Langholm. Father was Andrew Donaldson from Westerkirk, although he moved to London and Minnie was born in Tooting London. Cannot find her on English or Scottish census for 1911.
Have been unable to find a marriage or death for her.
Any suggestions where else I can look?

You haven't given any details of her birthyear - 1901 shows she was b 1877

Scotlands People shows 2 marriages for a Minnie Donaldson between 1901-1911 - have you already eliminated them from your search?

Carole, The "Port" is a significant family name so I think it very unlikely the name would not show on her marriage records. When I looked at the marriages you mention, couldn't find any clues that made me think they were the Minnie I am seeking!

I didn't use Port when I searched - just Minnie. You would need to buy credits to view the full entry to see if it was the same one. She may have dropped her middle name when she married.
Unfortunately - the 1901 has several other likely candidates for those 2 marriages with the same name

There is a death indexed at SP for a Minnie Port Donaldson of the right age in 1939 at Dumfries(shire).

Hi
The death index, that cookies4 found, shows no other surnames, so it looks as if she didn't marry.
In 1911, Minnie(34, b. England) is in Westerkirk, Dumfriesshire with her aunts, Joanne and Janet Donaldson, both born Westerkirk.

Thanks everyone, have now obtained evidence of her death and thus her mothers maiden name - which is what I am really seeking and also evidence of her sister's marriage to a David Irving who is Scottish too. The family keeps returning to their Scottish roots!
