:) I am looking for a book written by J.M.Beatts,"Reminiscences of a Dundonian" First in the series. This book was written by my Great-Great Grandfather in the 1880.
My Family line is Charles Beatts - John McLean Beatts (Snr) - John McLean Beatts (Jnr) - John Leyland Beatts (emigrated to Australia) - Esther Cordelia Beatts( my mother).

Hi,

Google books maybe the answer.

http://books.google.co.uk/books/about/Reminiscences_of_a_Dundonian.html?id=C-vUQAAACAAJ&redir_esc=y

From the link you are able to search for sellers of the book or library's that have the book.

Hope this helps

You don't say where you are, but if you are in the UK your local library should be able to get a copy for you to borrow under the Inter Library Lending Scheme.  Any reputable 2nd hand bookseller should be able to tell you if  a copy to purchase is a possibility.

I live in Australia and have searched the net without success my next hope is from outlets that do not have an internet sales option. I was lucky in being able to purchase the second series of "Reminiscences of a Dundonian" from a book store in Scotland.
Thanks for your reply  :)

Hi Bill, would you like to exchange information.
I have some information from when John McLean came to live in the Herbert River District in Australia.  (*)

Hi JM yes please pass on any info. My Aunt did quite a bit of work on our family tree and we have lineage recorded to John McLean Beatts. I have the papers around somewhere and will dig them out. We knew members of our family headed for Australia and America many moons ago.

Hi Bill, Found the unmarked graves of John McLean Beatts and his wife Christina(ne Lawson0 in a cemetery in Halifax, North Queensland Australia. Will have a headstone erected for my great grandparents. Also buried in the same cemetery is John leyland Beatts & Ida Sophia (nee Hoffensetz) my grandparents.

That's quite a discovery. Is it possible to photograph where they are buried?  I know you said its an unmarked grave and there might not be much there to see but it would be nice to see. Also are you aware of this link? http://www.flickr.com/photos/hinchinbrooklibraries/3565528214/ I presume you would be but sent it in any case.
