More Exact Date for Bird/Hutchins Marriage
« on: Wednesday 26 October 11 00:04 BST (UK) »
I'm wondering if there's any way to obtain a more accurate date for a marriage that took place in Basingstoke (Cliddersden) in July, August or September of 1911 between a Florence (Flossie) Hutchins and William John Bird. Is there a way of knowing the month it took place or even the date without obtaining the marriage license?

I'm also wondering if the same is true for a death of a Sydney Bennett at Poole in Dorset or Christchurch in Hampshire. I believe in July of 1911. His brother William Cuthbert Bennett seems to have died in the same place and is listed as April but I wonder if it pertains to those months being the first in a three month window and those months aren't the actual date?

Any help sorting out the marriage date and these 2 deaths in the family would be appreciated.

The only way of establishing the exact date of death is by buying a copy of the cert

In the case of a marriage - if you know which church it took place in - you can look it up in the parish records

If you don't know the church - then you will have to buy a copy

This marriage is not shown on either of the IGI websites

Thank you for the clarification. As far as I know the marriage took place in Cliddersden Parish Church however Florence became a Wesleyan Methodist around the time of her marriage so it could have taken place in the Chapel in Cliddersden.

If it helps William John Bird was born in Tiverton in 1873 but had lived in Cliddersden since 1878. Florence was the postmistress's daughter and had been raised in Cliddersden.

Many thanks for your fast response!
