Hello EP,
I've just done an admittedly very quick search on the 1841 census in Scotland and can't see either Robert or Agnes showing under either spelling of Stevenson.   Obviously they may have moved away from Dumfriesshire, but I couldn't see any with a Dumfriesshire place of birth.    That may mean they had left Scotland by then?

If Jean was born in 1833 and they had gone by 1841 then at least that would give you a timeframe for searching.      I'm not at all sure that you would find emigration records at the Scottish end for the period of 1833-41, but hopefully someone will be able to tell us I'm wrong on that one and point you in the right direction.    The only emigration ships list I have access to doesn't start until 1890.    Perhaps the search for that time frame might be better at the Canadian end?

If you have any other details, any at all, of them and their time in Canada do post them - I did see an earlier post from you further down the board and didn't do anything on it myself as there was so very little to go on.   Apologies for that because rather than leave a post unanswered we should perhaps say that a bit more details would make it easier to help - which everyone on here wants to do.

Maggie, thought I would reply separately for this .First of all many thanks for looking things up, really appreciate it. I had tried to find the family as you have , and with the same result, ages , birth dates etc don`t match up. The reason I thought they might have emigrated to Canada was Agness`s brother  had emigrated about 1845 to Ontario.
                     Thanks

I have finally found my Stevenson Family at last ! After months of searching, and with a lot of help from folks like yourselves, I found them on the ``Fredonia ``out of Liverpool to New York,Then in Indiana in 1860.I contacted the local history/library society in Elkart,Indiana and they sent me cemetery records.
Now I have the whole family and descendents.Great !
Thanks to all who helped with advice etc.

Evelyn, sorry I wasn't able to help but very glad others were more successful.   It's great when a brick wall crumbles - and thanks for letting us know
