 Hi Alexanderina,

I was interested to read your post regarding James Harris, as I'm also related to him via his younger brother - John.

However I'm a bit confused as I believe his dob to be nearer 1838 !.. All the above, previous, info refering to his parents and siblings does tally with what I have established with mine tho!

I don't know if you are aware of the brillient "Badsey" website ? - Its a great source of all things to do with the village itself - from past residents birth/marriage & death records to a great section on surnames...etc etc  plus much, much more.

I've had another look and it does list a James Harris bn 1838 - son of John and Sarah, baptised 8th Jan 1838..

I hope this is of some use to you - I've always thought that my Johns father was also John - so am surprised that it may be Thomas!  Theres probably a perfectly feasible explanation!

Let me know if I can help with anything else,
Kind regards
Sharon

Thank you SharonB for information regarding James,I think you are correct and that FamilySearch copied what information was given on Marriage cert.I see that he is down as unmarried on census, but I have copy of marriage certificate. The woman he married was Christina Docherty she had a criminal history in and out of prison,so maybe he found out something just not right as she married anothr soldier in 1868 and on both certificates she is down as spinster and age does not change
I enjoyed web site very interesting .
Just where is Badsey and what is the nearest town which will hold archives for this area?
