Gertrude Eleanor Sutton (married to Arthur Rushton)

I have a fair bit of information about Arthur Rushton but am trying to find out about Gertrude Eleanor Sutton.  She is believed to have been born in Horstead, Norfolk c1895 (but no birth certificate seems to exist so she may well have been a Lancashire/Liverpool girl).  She married Arthur Rushton 28 Oct 1915 at Everton Emmanual and lived in West Derby/Norris Green [Liverpool/Lancashire] for the remainder of her life.  She died 26 Jun 1958.

In particular, does anyone know of Gertrude's early life?  Can you confirm her birth day and place?

I notice on the marriage certificate her father was a Soldier.

There is a birth for Gertrude Eleanor Sutton registered in Poona India in 1894 on the GRO Army Births Index page 435 .

Much appreciate your help, and thanks for welcoming me to rootschat!

I do not have any information about her parents or her siblings.  The tip about Ellen being a synonym for Eleanor is well taken so Gertrude Ellen Sutton seems a distinct possibility.  However, I am also aware that they are not always used synonymously.

I have heard it rumoured that Gertrude Eleanor Sutton spent some time in India but dismissed it.  Your identification of Poona India is very interesting! 

Sorry if this is lame but how do I check 'GRO Army Births Index page 435'?  Is it accessible on The National Archives or Ancestry sites?  I am new to family history.

There is a Gertrude Sutton aged 16 showing on the free 1911 census index born Poona India and living in the West Derby District, Lancashire.   You would have to buy credits to view the full details.

You will find Getrude E living in Dover Kent on the the 1901 census aged 6 born Poona India with mother Annie, 32, born Colchester Essex, sister Annie 13 born Kensington London and Brother George A(lbert)  aged 9 born Agra India.
