I have a great grndfather in my Family tree who died on a building site 1891 Liverpool.
  An inquest was held.How do I obtain a copy of this report.

Following an inquest, there is no such thing as a "coroner's report", in the sense of a structured narrative setting out what happened.
Under the Home Office Circular 250/1967, a schedule of destruction of coroners records is laid down.Once 15 years old the records can be weeded,' that is destroyed or sampled by the individual coroner concerned.

A newspaper report is the best bet, but it an easy matter to contact the Liverpool Record Office to see what they have.

welcome to rootschat , i,ve just done a google search for liverpool inquest records and according to a reply in the liverpool and south west lancs genealogy forum the records don,t start before 1898 so what they are saying is that they look for local newspaper reports of accidents which i know from personal experience probably give as much if not more info than coroner reports my own grandfather was killed on a building site as well i am more fortunate that my gran cut out the piece in the local paper which i have now .
do a google search for liverpool mercury 1891 that seems to be the main paper that comes up .

If you give his name then as 19th Century Newspapers are available to members of certain libraries, a search could be made to see if there is a report.

In "Coroners' Records in England and Wales" they have the Register of Inquests 1898-1970, [M347 COR/L/1/1-20]. These only include name, address, date and cause of death. See http://www.rootschat.com/links/0ge3/
