Cross Family puzzle-Warrington/Latchford
« on: Wednesday 02 November 11 18:28 GMT (UK) »
Hi all,  I need some assistance here.I have already tried all the paid sites but I am stumped.

My query relates to May Enright born in Chorlton 1913 who married Sidney Cross Warrington 1936. They resided at Latchford, Warrington from 1936-1941(he was buried at Warrington Cemetry) a Aircraft man 2nd Class 1532809. Where do I go from here. She would be my uncles

Hi and welcome to Rootschat

Are you trying to trace her ancestry or what happened to her after Sidney died?

Her birth registration shows her mothers maiden name was English and there is a marriage in 1912 between Timothy Enright and Kathleen English.  The marriage was Chorlton-on-Medlock Register Office or Registar Attended

May probably re-married in 1944 in Warrington to surname Cosk

Hi Carole thanks for the reply. We would love to find her whereabouts or any kin( I cant find any). She might have re married was only 27 when her husband died so possible. We only found out about her 3 weeks ago and as she has numerous Ist cousins who are 80/90 + .

If she remarried would she have kept her maiden name or married name?

thanks again

She re-married as May Cross - see reply above - but I can't see any obvious births to that marriage

Even if children were found - we could not post details here as they will probably still be living

I can't see a death for her under Cosk

Carole thks for the input but I need to pick your brains once more.I have looked up the free marriage register and it shows the name Coak not Cosk .There is also a no 1 placed beside this. Have you any idea what this would mean?

thanks again

Hi

I had already checked the full GRO index against May's name and looked at the possibility it was Coak - I'll check again.   The 1 is just a smudge and has no significance

The full GRO index for the June qtr 1944 has no matching entry against either Coak or Cosk which is really weird

I will pick up on this later as I have to go out now
