Tasmania...David KING 1891 completed
« on: Wednesday 09 November 11 12:36 GMT (UK) »
Hello,

I am just starting to trace my grandfather's (Ernest Edward or Edward Ernest King) family and I know his parents were married in Hobart in 1891. There names were David King & Amy Peters but this is all I know so I was wondering if anyone would be able to assist me in finding out more about them.
I have no idea when or where they died and more importantly their origins in Tasmania.
Any details that can be supplied would be greatly appreciated.

Kind regards,
Murphy Girl.

Hi Merlin,

Thanks for the info re David King's children and I realised after posting the first request that I had made an error with the date so I placed another post on the board so hopefully if anyone else reads my enquiry they will have the right date.

It is strange that the name "Eugene" has never been mentioned in relation to my grandfather but I guess things get "changed" as time goes on. I can vaguely recall family members mentioning a Ruby but the story went that she was a "half sister" not a full one so that is a new piece of info.
I will keep looking to see if I can find out any more about David & Amy King, would you know from your availablity to records exactly where they were married in Hobart?

Thanks once again,

Kind regards,
Murphy Girl.

The name ERNEST EUGENE KING is not common I would think.

However this divorce in Sydney may be in regard to your man, or perhaps another of the same name ;D

TIP  ;D ;D

To change an error in your posting, just click the modify button on top right and the window will open to allow changes. Then click save and it will go back to the open board.  You may like to change the marriage date on your heading exactly the same way.  Open the first posting you made to correct the the subject heading.

Well, All speculation at present, but this could be a NSW marriage.
The wife in the divorce item is named as MARETTA

REG 3012/ In 1916    KING ERNEST E
    To HORRIGAN LILY M
    WOLLONGONG

And is this the death of a child of the couple

15456/1975 KING REGINALD JOHN
    Father ERNEST
    Mother LILLIAN MARETTA

Is this a child of ERNEST EUGENE.  Possibilities only. ;)

Have you more information at all?

A ww2 record of a REGINALD JOHN KING whose next of kin is AMY and was born in Tasmania, though he enlisted in NSW.
