255th Tunnelling Coy
« on: Wednesday 09 November 11 13:35 GMT (UK) »
Can anyone help me, I am trying to find out more info regarding what the 255th Tunnelling Coy would have been doing around the 23rd April 1916. My Great Uncle died on this date and is buried in the British & Indian Cemetery in Gorre. His records state he was with 10th Bn. Worcestershire Regiment attd 255th Tunnelling Coy., Royal Engineers.

Cant see 255 TC war diary online Looking on google it seems that some lads from 7th East Lancs were also attached and were KIA on 22nd April also buried in same cemetery.
Was he a miner? You could try and see if the Worcesters War diary(if it survives) mentions anything.

There is a war diary for 255 TC, but according to the NA indexing, it doesn't start until July 1916. It is WO 95/245.

The 10th Battalion Worcesters diary is in WO 95/2086. It isn't available via Documents Online though.
