Looking at my Soldiers Died in Great War Database and putting searches in of 334** It gives me a couple of July 1917 casualties who had previous service with Notts and Derbyshire Regiment so its quite possible that he was rebadged DLI in 1917.

I do have his medals bearing the Nottingham and Derby Regiment on them but I suppose if he was transferred across at the end of the war he would still be classed as a Sherwood Forrester?

Campaign Medals are impressed with the unit he 1st served overseas with
even if he was serving with the DLI they would have Notts and Derby Regt on them
