Charles Sharman (brother of my g.g.grandfather) was born on 29th May 1832, and baptised at Swinstead, Lincolnshire, England on 24th June 1832. At some stage he joined the army. He appears in the 1861 census as a Private in the Royal Horse Guards at the District Barracks, Upper Albany Street on the east side of Regents Park in London. He had already married his second wife by then - whilst still married to his first! This is the last trace that we have found so far of Charles in any United Kingdom census. Maybe he came to the USA with or without his second wife Ann (born Chippenham, Wiltshire in 1836).
