Isabella Smith Ritchie (Patience)

My grandmother Isabella Patience nee Smith Ritchie died in 1960 in Avoch Ross-shire according to a letter I have recently  seen my grandfather James Patience who lived Avoch tells the person to whom the letter is addressed that he has just returned from the Funeral in Whitehills.

Would it be normal practice for the deceased to be returned to the area she had been brought up in  to be buried? She originally was born in Fordyce on 2.7.1887 and moved to Avoch when she married my grandfather in 1908.                           
                                                               
Would anyone be able to tell me which cemetery she would be interred in.? I have searched the Whitehills MIs without success.
