Much Dewchurch - 1600s - Markey & Porter family

I have been following my family line back and reached my 5 x great grandfather Edward Porter to his christening in Much Dewchurch, Herefordshire in 1755 through his military records. On the IGI Family search I have found his christening and that of his father Edward Porter b.1724 Much Dewchurch, I believe his mother was Martha but not found there marriage registration?  It seems the next generation back was a marriage between Thomas Porter and Magdalene Markey in Much Dewchurch on 18 Oct 1719.

This lead for Thomas Porter seems to end there but Magdalene Markey was christened on 28 Jul 1695 in Much Dewchurch to William and Elizabeth Markey. I have found a marriage for William Markey and Elizabeth Smyth on 28 Sept 1679 Much Dewchurch and its seems possible that her father was a local land owner called Thomas Smyth. Magdalene was William and Elizabeth’s youngest daughter and their eldest was called Benedicta born in 1681. There is also another marriage a year later between Elizabeth Markey and Charles Williams in Much Dewchurch in 1680 which could be William Markey’s sister but I cannot find any christening records for either of them to see who their parents were?  I can see from other information on the web that there are suggestions that William Markey was the son of Benedicta Hoskins b.1610 Harewood Hall and John Markey b.1606 Alton but this seems incorrect because their son William Markey married both Elizabeth Cecil and Lydia (Daughter of Sir Gabriel low) and as far as I can see didn’t have children with any of them as his nephew Markey Abrahall, son of his sister Winifred inherited Alton. Also the date 1679 would be a very late marriage and to go on have children for the next 16 years!  I think there must be a family link between these Markeys and the Markeys of Alton I just cant see it – would love to hear from anyone who can have a look at local records for that time period or has some family information for the Markey family for that time period?

I know I am late to this but have got to William Markey and Elizabeth Smyth, and cannot for sure get back. I too found the William Markey link back to John Hoskyns but not with Elizabeth.
Did you manage to find anything further?
For info, I am from Nancy Porter/John Harris, Ester Harris/James Cox, James/Harriet Cox, Jane Cox/Richard Fricke line.  They all seem to be pretty much based round Much Dewchurch.

With regards to Lydia Lowe, I have not determined which William Markey she actually married, because all records just say she was the widow of William Markey when she married Charles Hoskyns.

The Markey, Abrahall and Hoskyns and Bourne and Kyrle families interconnect on several occasions, as was the want of rich families to keep lands within family domains. Lydia's sister Jane married John Hoskyns.

Benedicta's half sisters from her mothers first marriage to Francis Bourne (Benedicta Bourne nee Moyle) - Francis and Elizabeth both married into Hoskyns family.

I have at last got round to working on my Markey/porter family tree. thank you again for your information. I have recently come across this information about John Markey b. 1606 or1610 Ross on Wye m. Benedicta Hoskyns. An inscription in A history of St Marys Ross on Wye 2018 by Rev John Tarrant and others. They have transcribed these memorials from the Markye Chapel.

Rough translation
Generous, and sophisticated arm and brought him to the wife of John Markey. Benedicta of the Court of Alton. only daughter Johnnis Hoskins S.l. and by whom he had three daughters and one son William;Isabelle Winifred Elizabeth survivors. He died in March, 1666, art. 56.
