Hi Folks, i'm trying to trace my GGF Moses Carruthers, my only reference is a family tree done by a relative years ago and unfortuatley i cant read the writing. It looks like he was born in a place called Frimwell, Ballymoney in 1835 but cant be sure, defo ****well. Any help would be very much appreciated especially the place name.

Welcome to Rootschat. I have a feeling that 'Frimwell' isn't the right name but can't think of anything close in the Ballymoney area at the moment. Could you post that portion of the handwriting here so we can try to decipher it?

Worked brilliantly, thanks. However, I'm not sure it is a place near Ballymoney, Co.Antrim. I notice that Moses' wife was born Newtowncunningham and both are buried Grange (Donegal?).

His death registration would back up my theory- Moses Carruthers, age 64, Oct./Dec.1898 Londonderry registration district, volume 2 page 105

There's a Moses Carruthers in Newtownhamilton, Co.Donegal in 1830 (too old to be yours born c1835 but perhaps a relative?)

Is this Moses' widow in 1901 census?

Thanks so much for all your help, never even occured to me that there was another Ballymoney in Donegal, a quick google search and there it was right next to Grange.

And yes that looks like his widow on the 1901 census, all the children tie up, only one missing. John is my GF.

Cant find that other Moses, prob a far out relation.

Thanks again
