Can't make my mind up whether he was a Coal Merchant like his Father or a Civil Servant.  Also need his address please...my eyes need to rest :)  :)

My vote is for "Civil servant" - especially as the 1891 census, just a year later, shows him as a "Civil service clerk": RG12/1077/59/21.

I would say it was Civil Servant.  I am still working on the address !!

 Only started on this branch tonight and within ten minutes was overwhelmed by the baptism and marriage records.  I saw the Civil Servant on the 91 but am whacked for tonight.

The address is in Hornsey, which is London N8 (if that helps at all) but for the life of me I can't read the road name, even though I worked in that area for ten years!

I agree with Hornsey, but am having trouble with my eyes tonight !!  It is not London Road I don't think.

The only roads beginning with L in Hornsey now are Landrock, Lausanne, Lightfoot, Linzee, Lynton and Lyttleton.       To me, it doesn't look like any of those, so maybe it's a road that doesn't exist anymore and you need to look at an old map.
