Searching for the marriage of Robert Tindall

I have a marriage certificate for the above from 1878 when he married Sarah Affleck Graham at St Nicholas, Newcastle. On the certificate it states he is a widower. 
The only marriage I can find on Family Search for this previous marriage is one that took place in 1872 in the district of Glendale, Northumberland. The father of the groom does not match the one on the 1878 certificate (Edward) so it can't be the same Robert. I'm a bit stumped! There must be a record somewhere!
 Was wondering where i can look next!

Have you found him in the 1871 census, what was his status then? This would help to narrow when an earlier marriage took place. Have you tried looking on Freebmd?   http://www.freebmd.org.uk/  There is this one:

The marriage you posted looks similar to this one on Family Search:

I don't think it's him as the DOB is a long way out!

I can find three mariages om Free BMD: 1866 (above) 1872 (grooms father different) and his marriage in 1878 which I have the certificate for and states the grooms father as Edward.

I can locate Robert in every census except 1871. On the certificate for his second marriage in 78, it states he was living in Dean St, Newcastle. As an 11 year old in the 61 census up until his marriage in 78, I can find no trace of him!

So when and where was Robert born?  Father Edward's occupation?  Save us some time--where is he located in 1851, 1861, 1881 etc.

Just to get some purchase on him ~  Is this him in 1861 as Tindale - RG9/ 3846/64/4 - born Newcastle. Father a coal miner.
