Seeking assistance - Driver John Large
« on: Monday 28 November 11 16:39 GMT (UK) »
My Late grandfather ( details below)
Name: John Large
Rank: Driver
Date of Enlistment: 6/4/1915
Army Number: 685759
Date of Discharge: 25/1/1919  - The discharge papers show his unit as being 2nd/3rd West Lancashire Battalion RFA (TF) but no record of when he went to France...

I have accessed his medal card and no record exists of when he went abroad; I have been to Kew and nothing else seems available - I have scanned (briefly) the relevant War Diary - WO95/3102 but given he was an 'other rank' he seems to not warrant a name check.

I know (well have been told by my mother) that he met his wife when convalescing at the Summerdown Camp in Eastbourne (he was gassed and also carried shrapnel in his back for life)

The British Library holds the following " The representative organ of the Summerdown Military Convalescent Camp (Hospital) New series vol 1 no 1-vol 4 no 21 Feb 1916-Feb 1919  - Great Britain Army Army Services Medical Services and Medical Department Summerdown Military Convalescent Camp, Eastbourne , 1916-1919. 1916"

Does anyone know if this included 'patient records'?

Any suggestions gratefully received
