McKenna's of Aughnacloy
« on: Saturday 03 December 11 22:36 GMT (UK) »
Hello all,

I was just wondering if anyone can help me find out what happened to my McKenna family.

Joseph McKenna is one of the clan, he is my link.

James McKenna - Father
c1845 -

Catherine McQuaid - Mother
c1847 –

Elleanor McKenna  1865 –

Mary McKenna  1866 –

Peter McKenna  1868 –

James McKenna  1869 –

Patrick McKenna  1872 –

Margaret McKenna  1874 –

Joseph McKenna  1876 –

Michael McKenna  1877 –

I would love to know if anyone can find any mention of them anywhere as I cannot.

Many thanks

Danny

There are lots of Mckennas in Errigal Truagh Co Monaghan yours may have strayed into Tyrone.Have you checked the 1901 and 1911 census at www.nationalarchives.ie or the Irish familyhistory foundation web site. There might be something on the from-ireland site too.Good Luck

Hiya,

I tried the Ireland census but so far have come up blank.

Joseph McKenna and Agnes McKenna just do not seem to want to show up.

Who's Agnes? I can't see her mentioned in your original post.

Did the family stay in Ireland? Have you found any of them in either 1901 or 1911? Any idea when Joseph and Agnes married and what age Agnes was?

All of the McKenna's stayed in Ireland as far as I am aware.

Joseph and Agnes married 26/04/1899 in Antrim.

Joseph was from Tyrone originally and Agnes from Antrim.
I cannot find any of the family on the census.

Well I can find Joseph and Agnes two daughters on the 1911 census (One was my Grt Grandmother).

They were living with their grandparents at 25 Clonard Street.

The two witnesses to the marriage of Joseph and Agnes were Patrick McKenna and Ellen Downey.

I have found a Ellen Downey aged 23 living in Antrim but originally from Tyrone.

That may well be the Ellen who was the witness, unfortunately it does not have her living with the newly weds.
