James JENKIN of St Day
« on: Thursday 08 December 11 09:34 GMT (UK) »
James Jenkin was in New Zealand during the 1880's. He had been a Methodist Local Preacher in the St Day PM Circuit before he came to NZ, probably about 1880. He first appears here as a travelling agent for the British and Foreign Bible Society in the Manawatu region in early 1883.  He then was employed as a Circuit Missionary for the Primitive Methodists at Feilding from 1883 till late 1885. On 16th October of that year he married Caroline Morris in Auckland - she died aged 22 in late 1887.  He then disappears from the records - and may well have returned to the UK.
Am searching for his family background - date and place of birth, and information aboyut his parents.

Does the Marriage Cert not have any info on his Parents?

If he left England pre 1881 Census where his Ocp would be shown, he may be hard to track down earlier than that.
Does the Methodist/Bible Society have no other info on him?

Trish :)
