i :)i have just found out i am the great/great grandaughter of peggy [the elder] who married mathew eastman. via her son james who died in hobart 1867 after escaping from goal.i have noticed some older posts and would like any info on her or the family.

here is the criminal register record for her
peggy swann age 47 trial date 9 dec 1844 at derby winter assizes sentence 10 yrs transportation .
voyage date 23 july 1845 for vdl  ship name lloyds .
also on same register on the same page with her a james swann 35 convicted of burglary sentence  transportation for life
george swann  21 burglary sentence trans for life
samuel swann 33 burglary sentence trans for life
john swann snr 47 receiving stolen goods sentence 10 yrs trans
peggy swann snr 47 receiving stolen goods 10yrs trans
john swann 18 receiving stolen goods found not guilty
so it looks like a family of felons  to me

I'm sure you would have found her convict record before now, but just in case you haven't:

thank you all for the extra info.his son tasman,[my grandfather] kept up the family tradition,lol. no wonder they never mentioned the ancestors.
